Old Friends

Dusty,
they emerge from the box
Resurrected.
So much knowledge and sustenance
in my days of trial,
Hidden from the world for too long.
It was like Christmas,
seeing each book again,
remembering how it healed me,
fed my soul with insight and light.
If people knew the value in these treasures,
they would have to be locked in a strong box.
Not material worth which is fool’s gold,
but spiritual wealth,
which is priceless.

Seagulls at Summer Solstice

Seagulls are God’s angels,
circling the earth.
Today there were many
passing through the sky
on cleansing missions.
They gathered and flew in a giant oval,
against the crystal blue,
creating a healing vortex
for our ailing planet.

Whenever I see a seagull,
I feel comfort from the heavens.
A  peace envelops my soul,
knowing they can defy
gravitational pulls earth creates.
They ride the wind currents,
glide without effort,
swallow up debris humans create.

Transmute it into new life.

Why We Keep Horses

They stand as sentinels shining in the sun,
the curves of their muscles streamlined for speed.
They bring a calm as they graze in the pastoral pasture,
a simple reverie that soothes our souls.
They are patient and kind,
help us simplify,
don’t require much,
just a few pats on the head,
a cheerful hello,
some hay.
They have existed for eons,
much longer than we humans.
They have been our horse power
through long  journeys, wars, mail, and stagecoaches.
Now they are just our large pets.
We don’t ride anymore.
We love,groom,and brush them,
Trim their long roped manes,
Curry their soft satin fur.
Somehow they know when we are in trouble
and heal us with their strength.
Just by standing in their presence
we feel better.
They still give back
with their horsepower.

Spirit Swings

The swings would sway gently
but empty in the breeze
Yet sometimes I felt little souls
in those swings
come for a pre-visit to see grandma

I’d been waiting a long time
for those sweet but strong heroines
to arrive.
Lots of strong heroic grandsons paved the way,
would watch over,
protect them
as they grew.
I knew they would be here soon
and could hardly wait!

Face book Follies

Let it all hang out
Give every sorted detail of your personal life
Nothing sacred

Make political stands that alienate your friends
Your family
Divide the country with political rants
Hide behind a screen spewing venom
Cause division
Hatred
Abuse family and friends
Show off vices, drinking, tatts, dark sides of character

Teenagers
Threaten and bully
Cause someone to commit suicide
with cruel words
Cat fish and lie
Stalk and spy
Gross people out with obscene
Pictures of man’s cruelty
To animals
Or each other
Use filth and foul
Sociopaths on the prowl

Definitely the wrong ways to use face book

Face book
Friend or foe?
You decide

Another Mother

She was always looking for a another mother
Adopted other women throughout her life
Never could really attach to me
Her real mom
All the others cuddlers
She was aloof even as a baby
She withheld her love
Held me hostage

At times some warmth would seep through
Only to be replaced by a wall of hostility
Why this child always kept me at arms length
I don’t understand
The pain stabs my heart because I loved her
And birthed her

CruelTies

Why the ones supposed to love us
carve the deepest wounds?
Block and isolate us
Cold, cruel, and impenetrable

How can they be our kin?
The ones we nurtured, fed, and cuddled
in their swaddled newness
The ones we guided, fed, and clothed
Encouraged, cheered on, and coached
At dance recitals, reflection contests,
Elections and prestigious awards

Return our love with silence
Refuse relationships with our grandchildren
Hold them hostage
from our love and support

Their stubbornness and unwillingness to forgive
More important than their children
God sees their child abuse, parent abuse
Grandparent abuse

One day there will be a reckoning
